Recently, we’ve been fortunate enough to add a Freefly Movi M10 to our arsenal of equipment here at Hidden Woods. The Movi is a lightweight camera stabilization rig that enables the operator to perform smooth handheld camera movements. With a single device, we’re now capable of mimicking movements that were once only achievable with steadycams, jibs, dollies, and the like.
Plus, the required setup time is a fraction of what these other devices demand. This saves our crew and clients’ time on set; and it doesn’t hurt that the image results are stunning. Customized camera movements allow us to bring more excitement to your story than ever before. No matter what our client’s needs call for, the Movi is up for the task. It helps us do our job even better.
Technology has been changing in ways that allow unprecedented camera techniques for a fraction of the cost. That certainly isn’t to say this is a cheap piece of gear, but in comparison to a dolly/crane system or a steadicam, it lets us break into techniques with camera motion that were previously contained within the walls of Hollywood. Although these are becoming more and more accessible, we’re fortunate to be one of the only video production companies in Denver with a Movi M10.
It also helps bridge the gap between documentary and narrative style productions. While viewers become more and more saturated with high-end production within documentaries, the ‘run and gun’ style of the past is dwindling. It’s devices like this that forge the connection between the two- developing narrative quality shots in an on-the-go environment. We can’t wait to put this bad boy to use for the rest of the year.
